Windows has a set of certain folders which are identified by unique strings referred to as CLSID or Windows Class Identifiers.

These folders can be accessed by using the CLSID identifier codes that Windows assigns to each individual folder in the Windows Registry. If you know the codes, you can launch these with ease. 

In short, GodModes are nothing but developer shortcuts built into Windows 7 & Vista, that enable easy access to certain settings and information about the operating system. Using GodMode Creator, you can create these shortcuts easily. Simply click on the desired button and it will create the Special Folder or “GodMode” shortcuts on your desktop.

Troubleshooting Audio Problems in Windows 7

[How-To] Disable low disk space message

When your system hard disk is running out of space, Windows will pop up a small message indicating that there is less disk space in your system. This pop-up message can come in handy but may even get annoying at a particular point of time. Aside from being annoying. Windows Vista's constant checking for low space uses system resources which slow down Windows. Hence here's a small registry tweak that can turn off the low disk space in Windows Vista.

• Click Start, and type regedit in the search box and then hit Enter key.
• Browse to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | Microsoft | Windows | CurrentVersion registry key.
• Select Policies key under CurrentVersion.
• From the Registry Editor menu, click Edit | New | Key. The key will be named New New Key #1 by default.
• Change the name of the key to Explorer and press Enter.
• While the Explorer key is still selected, click Edit | New | DWORD(32-bit) Value. The DWORD Created beneath Explorer, will be named New Value #1 by default.
• Change the DWORD to NoLowDiskSpaceChecks.
• Right-Click on the new NoLowDiskSpaceChecks DWORD and select the Modify option.
• In the value data, type 1.
• Click OK and close the Registry Editor. Windows Vista will no longer pop up the low disk space warning.

[How-to] Set Process Priority in Windows

Whenever a process is created in Windows, it is given a certain priority. There might be several processes running on your system which can be viewed in the Processes tab after pressing [Alt] + [Ctrl] + [Del] keys simultaneously. If several processes are running on your system, you can give special priorities depending upon their importance. For example if you select a process and give it a 'High' priority, your CPU would tend to complete the process as soon as possible. You can set different priorities for different processes.

To do so follow the steps below :

• Press [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del] and Click on the Task Manager button.
• Click the Processes tab.
• Select an appropriate process.
• Right-Click the selected process, place the mouse pointer over the Set Priority option and select an appropriate priority level from the resulting context menu.

[How to] Unlock Regional Themes in Windows 7

Windows 7 comes preloaded with a lot of themes that can be accessed under Personalize Control Panel. By the way you will be able to use one of the following themes - Architecture, Characters, Landscapes, Nature, Scenes along with a Regional Theme if you had selected any of the country as Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, South Africa or United States during installation.

Windows 7 automatically installs the regional theme according to your Country and hides others from the Personalization Control Panel. So here's the workshop to get all the regional themes accessed.

• Open Notepad and Copy n Paste the following Registry Entries into the text document

[How to] Disable Libraries in Windows 7

If you had switched from either XP or Vista to Windows 7, you get an interesting feature called Libraries. In Short Libraries enable you to organize files by using metadata about the file, such as author, date, type, tags, and so on—instantly. You’re not limited to just browsing files by folder hierarchy. When you save files in a Library, Windows 7 indexes the files. You can use Library features like the Arrange By control to instantly browse the files in the Library by metadata or use the Search Builder, which is built into the Search box in Windows Explorer, to instantly search the files in the Library by metadata.

These features are only available in Libraries and are real productivity boosters. For example, Libraries can help you find a file based on something you remember about it such as what type of file it is, who wrote it, or when it was last modified. Libraries can prevent the need for you to drill into many levels of folder hierarchy to find a file.

Library icons are always visible on the Windows Explorer, if for some reasons you find this feature quiet annoying - Just download the registry files and add it to your registry by double clicking on the registry files. I have also included a restore script, incase if you wanna turn back.

Delete undeletable files

There might be a file on your system which may probably a virus that cannot be deleted in spite of using third party file shredders.  After several attempts if the file has still not been deleted, you can use this tip as a last resort to permanently eliminate the file from the system.  To delete an undeletable file follow the steps below : 

• Click Start and type cmd in the Search box.  Leave the command prompt windows as it is.
• Terminate all programs or processes
• Now, click Start and type taskmgr.exe
• From the Processes tab, select the explorer.exe process and click the End Process button.  Do not shut down task manager.
• Now go back to the Command Prompt window and move to the directory where the file is located in.
• In Command Prompt, type DEL and the file name to be deleted.  For example, del dark.txt
• Once done, return to the Task Manager
• From the File menu, click New Task and type explorer.exe in the text box.  This is gonna restart your Windows GUI Shell

Force OS to boot in Safe Mode

The Safe mode in windows loads limited drivers and applications thus minimizing the risk of a system crash. You may want to use this mode if you're tackling a virus or tweaking your operating system. This can be done manually be simply pressing the [F8] Key. But in some instances, it may be cumbersome to press the [F8] Key every time the OS reboots. Thus, you can force your system to run in Safe Mode every time your system reboots.

• Click 'Start', type in 'msconfig' and hit the [Enter] key. The 'System Configuration' dialog box appears.
• Click on the 'Boot' tab.
• In the 'Boot Options' section, check the 'Safe Boot' check box. Ensure that the 'Minimal' radio button is selected.

Disable Screensaver While Watching Movie

The terrible thing you will notice when watching movie on your PC is your System's screen go blank after a couple of minutes and windows shows your custom Screensaver. It's a major irritate especially when you are using your PC for your Entertainment purpose, the case will be worse if you are in HTPC system. Select Files using Checkboxes in Vista

In previous versions of windows, you would have to hold down the [Ctrl] key and fire multiple clicks to select several files. If you'd accidently miss a click, you would lose the entire selection and would have start all over again. But in Windows Vista, you can select multiple files by selecting the check boxes beside the file name, thus eliminating the risk of losing your entire selection. To do so, you would have to enable this feature in Vista.

Run ' My Computer ' or Simply hit the [Win Key] + [E] Combination

If your menus are hidden, hit the [Alt] Key.

From 'Tools' menu, select the 'Folder Options' option.

Click the 'View' Tab and Select the 'Use Check Boxes to select items' Check Box.

Once done, click 'OK'

Torrenting Guide 2 Dummies

What "is" torrenting anyways?

A text file, is a file whose data is composed of text... A music file, is a file whose data is composed of music... A torrent is a file whose data is essentially a map. This map shows your torrent client (i.e.- utorrent, transmission, etc.) where to find the data. This data can be found in one place (no seeders) or in multiple places (people seed)...

ANALOGIES

Bag of Chips (not accurate):

A person has a bag of chips... and wants to share his bag of chips amongst 3 of his friends... In this make-believe world, the person copies his bag of chips and gives one to each of his friends... Now another person comes along, and wants a bag of chips too... But you don't want to get in trouble for copying chips... so you and your 3 friends allow this person to take/copy a quarter of their bags, thus giving the new person a full bag of chips for himself...

Song (more accurate):

There's a song (3 minutes long) and i want to download it using a torrent. Three other people have downloaded this song, and is now seeding it. My torrent client would download the 1st minute from the first person, then the 2nd minute from the 2nd person, and the last minute from the 3rd person... Then it puts it all together as to have a full copy of the song... Make sense?

The original seeder (or uploader) contains a full copy of the data, and uploads it to demonoid where he/she shares the file(s). Then a person comes along, and downloads his file... Now there are 2 copies of the data. Now, this person can either run away with this file for his own purposes (leeching), or he can give back and "seed". Seeding means the person who downloaded the file, is now allowing other people to upload part of their data to make a full copy. Generally, the more seeders a file contains the faster the download speed.

Is it illegal?

While torrenting is not illegal, it can be used for illegal purposes... i.e.- music sharing, movie sharing, etc. What some governments do is they "track" your ip address (which is provided by your internet service provider) and find your address. One way to combat this is to use an "ip blocking" application (which prevents users from "connecting" to your ip). One which has grown in popularity was developed by Pheonix Labs and is called Peer Guardian. If you wish to protect yourself from the government, I suggest using it. It can be found at:

Open Multiple Instances of Registry Editor

Usually, the registry editor can only be opened in one instance. If you try to start it a second time, only the currently opened program window is focused. BTW You would prefer two editors to be open simultaneously, for instance, to compare key values in a more efficient way. Here's How to do it ! Make use of the Start Menu as usual and click on ' Run ' to open a second registry editor parallel to an instance that is already open. In this dialog, enter the 'regedit.exe' command in the 'Open' Field. But this time add the '-m' parameter to it with a space. Windows will now start another registry editor as an independent instance. In Windows Vista, this can be done by entering the command directly in the search field in the Start Menu.

Changes that are made in one editor are not automatically detected by other open editors. Thus, you need to click [F5] to refresh the display. With every opened registry editor instance, you directly access the same database.

Seperate Music and Vocal Voice from a Song

Yup, Yes.., you can do it yourself! You don’t need to have a recording studio since the Audacity freeware does the job. Using this freeware, you can remove the vocal piece from the centre of the stereo panorama. You can download the program from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.

REMOVING THE VOICE TRACK: On executing the software, load the desired audio file in Audacity. Open the context menu in the editor on the left by clicking the arrow next to the file name. Separate both channels with ‘Split stereo sound track’. Then select the right track by clicking on a free space in the gray region and open ‘Effect | Invert’. Now click the menu arrow for each track one after the other and select the ‘Mono’ command. This deletes the parts of the track that are at the exact center. This often reduces the vocal part of the track considerably. Unfortunately, even other parts of the track are lost, especially those from the bass. However, you can try to balance this out with ‘Effect| Equalizer’. If the voice is not heard exactly in the middle of stereo panorama, you can try and increase the level in the weaker channel with ‘Effect | Amplification’ before converting the stereo files into mono files.

OPTIMIZING THE FADE-OUT: The ‘Voicetrap’ plug-in is very useful and can be found on www.cloneensemble.com/vt_main.htm Look for ‘Download’ on the website and click on the ‘VST (Windows)’ link. Unzip the archive and copy the contents in the ‘Plug-ins’ folder in the Audacity program directory. Prerequisite for the use of Voicetrap in Audacity is the ‘VST-Enabler’ auxiliary program. Download this tool from http://audacityteam.org/vst/ and install it. When you start the program next, the Audacity menu will contain the ‘VoicetrapV20′ effect. The freeware version of the plug-in achieves good results with its default settings. The registered shareware variant for 25 dollars offers more ptions for detailed configuration. The advantage of Voicetrap is that there is comparatively less interference than the sound of the music piece and stereo signals and the depths are preserved.

NOTE: How well one succeeds in fading out the vocal piece depends largely on the selected music piece. Invariably, even expensive programs cannot completely remove voices without any loss of sound. Erasures on live recordings can be difficult.
