Disable Thumbnail Previews

The Main objective of thumbnails in Windows i to help a user quickly identify files while browsing the system through Windows Explorer. This feature is helpful especially while browsing through a huge list of video files. If you have an old PC that's slowing down because of this, you can disable thumbnails in Windows to overcome this problem. To do so follow the steps below:

  • Double-Click 'My Computer'
  • Click the 'Organise' drop-down menu and select the 'Folder and Search Options' checkbox.
  • Click the 'View' tab.
  • Under the 'Files and Folders' section, select the 'Always show icons, never thumbnails' checkbox and then OK.
